Happy New Year! Thank you for coming to read about my life and share your perspective on the topic’s we will discuss this year. I’m a very private person, and this Blog is my attempt to be more open with my life and experiences. For those that do not know who I am, my name is Sal Randazzo and I started a drone imaging and surveying business, Aerial Imaging Solutions, LLC in 2017. I saw an opportunity for the construction and engineering industry to take advantage of this emerging technology. Our goal is for our clients to be able to make more informed, faster decisions by utilizing our services.
Each week, I’ll put up a voting post in my Instagram story for you to vote on the topic that interests you about me or my business. This week I posted an option to write about my career or my way of life. Most of my followers voted for me to write about my way of life.
I thought about many ways to approach this topic - tell you about my daily routine, give some insight on my philosophies, or tell you some history of how I got where I am. I struggle with this question daily - I’m only 29 years old, who am I to give advice? Eventually, I can boil the answer down to something I was taught in ROTC throughout college - “The first duty of a leader is to produce other leaders.” If something I share can help someone in their life, make someone else’s job more efficient, or make the world a better place; it was worth putting myself out there.
My daily routine:
5:15-5:30 a.m. - Wake up, get ready for the day
5:40 - 6:00 a.m. - Drive to project site (office trailer)
6:00 - 6:30 a.m. - Check personal finances, market & world news
6:30 - 7:00 a.m. - Breakfast, work emails, and schedule goals/tasks for the week
7:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Team/safety meetings, site visits, & Government meetings
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Morning snack, subcontract reviews, schedule next day tasks.
12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Lunch, work e-mails, mid-day market check
1:00 - 3:00 p.m. - Team meetings, project site visits, & Government discussions
3:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Pre-workout snack & end of day e-mails/phone calls follow-ups,
4:00 - 5:30 p.m. - Gym
5:30 - 6:00 p.m. - Travel home
6:00 - 6:30 p.m. - Unpack & pack bags/lunch for next day
6:30 - 8:30 p.m. - Evening e-mails, projects follow-up, dinner & AIS development
8:30 - 9:30 p.m. - Unwind & catch up on TV
9:30 p.m. - 5:15 a.m. - Sleep
My day is flexible - meeting times and site visits change daily, but I follow this schedule Monday-Sunday (yes, weekends too!). I have found it to be more efficient to wake up at the same time 7 days a week so that Mondays are just as productive as Wednesdays. Another key I discovered is to limit my e-mails to certain times in the day. My team is in the office between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. During the time they’re at work, I’m only buried in emails while eating lunch. This allows me to be available for hands-on problem solving and get out of my office for most of their day. Because I’m a young Project Manager in the construction industry, I lack the hands-on experience my team members have. This schedule allows me to be hands-on and gain more experience rather than be stuck in an office.
My wife and I are visiting family and friends this week which has given me time to reflect on this past year and set goals for 2018. As our following grows and I become more comfortable with sharing my life, I’ll post more about my philosophies and my experiences. I was able to get some flight time during Snowmageddon 2018 - Here is a roof image of the Galloway Township Library:

My current macros for post-Holiday cut: 183g (Protein), 110g (Carbs), 47g (Fats) for 1700 daily calories. With my current workout splits, this keeps me at a 1.5lb - 2lb/week deficit. I’ll keep this up for January, go into a surplus to bulk from February to March, then begin cutting again in April for the summer season.
